Let's Hunt For the Good Stuff

As we step into 2025, let me share a little secret that has transformed my mindset and energy over the past two years. In 2023, as part of my ongoing quest for optimum health, I started practicing daily gratitude—a simple habit of noticing and reflecting on what’s good in life. Some days, it was the smallest things: the comforting hum of the heating switching on, the aroma of fresh coffee, a stranger’s kind smile, or the cozy warmth of my duvet. Other days, it was bigger moments: meaningful time with my teen, a new coaching opportunity, a client breakthrough, a loved one achieving something great, or an unforgettable holiday.

At first, it felt like a nice but optional practice. Yet over time, it became clear—gratitude was (and has!) transforming my mental fitness in profound ways.

Why Gratitude Works 🤔

Our brains have a natural negativity bias—we’re wired to focus on threats or problems. When we practice gratitude, our brain releases dopamine, the “feel-good” chemical that amplifies positive emotions. It’s like a natural high for your mind! Practicing gratitude retrains your brain to scan for positivity instead. Over time, you’ll notice more joy, appreciation, and even resilience in your everyday life.

But here’s the catch: gratitude isn’t just for when life is going well. It’s a skill, like swimming, biking, or driving. At first, it takes effort to learn. Over time, it becomes second nature, rewiring your brain to seek out the good—even in tough times.

And here’s the bonus: It’s impossible to feel grateful and anxious at the same time. Gratitude lowers stress, boosts well-being, and leaves you feeling more grounded.

Simple Ways to Practice Gratitude 🙌

💫 Make it a Routine: Choose a specific time each day to reflect on what you’re grateful for. Morning, lunchtime, or before bed—find what works for you.

💫 Stick with It: Let me repeat myself - Gratitude isn’t just for the good times. It’s a powerful tool when life gets tough. 💪

💫 Share the Love: Express your gratitude to others. Acknowledge what they’ve done and let them know it matters.

My 2025 Gratitude Jar Challenge 🏺

This year, I’m writing one thing I’m grateful for every day on a small piece of paper, folding it, and placing it in a jar . On tough days, I’ll open the jar to remind myself of the beauty in my life. It's simple, yet powerful.

Who’s with me? Let’s make 2025 the year we hunt for the good stuff and focus on what we have —and watch the magic unfold. 🌟

Let’s do this together. What’s one thing you’re grateful for today?
