Let's talk about the C word!

And I don't mean Christmas! Although as the year wraps up and the festive vibes are in full swing, let me give you a little something to help you feel your best during this busy (and sometimes crazy, but that's still not what I mean!) season.

Let's talk mindset first.

Ever catch yourself saying, “I should do this”? I certainly do! But let’s reframe this. Instead of “should” (which feels judgy and bossy), how about “could”?

👉 I could do this! The C word!

Doesn’t it feel lighter? Like you’re in control, grabbing an opportunity or making choices that suit you? So, here’s what you COULD do to make the most of the festive season:

You COULD prioritise sleep 🛌💤

I know sleep doesn’t sound super exciting when there are parties to be had, but it’s essential. Sleep resets your body, recharges your mind, and keeps you from feeling like a festive zombie. Bonus: getting enough sleep helps prevent those "I’ll-eat-everything-in-sight" moments.

✨ Tips:

  • Skip the alarm if you can.

  • Sneak in an afternoon nap (my favourite!).

  • Get to bed early before a big family day.

You COULD stay hydrated 💧✨

And nope, I’m not talking about the bubbly stuff (though we’ll get to that). Water is your best friend. It keeps you energised, clears your mind, and helps you tell hunger from thirst. Plus, it’s great for easing hangovers.

✨ Tips:

  • Start your day with a (big) glass of water.

  • For every alcoholic drink (told you!), have a glass of water alongside it.

  • Keep a water bottle handy—it’s the ultimate fashion accessory!

You COULD add some proteins to every meal and snack 🥚🍗🌰

Proteins slow down the digestion of carbohydrates, therefore helps keep your energy steady and those sugar crashes at bay.

✨ Tips:

  • Think turkey, nuts, or even a dollop of cream on your Christmas pud.

  • Start your day with a protein-rich breakfast and watch the magic happen!

You COULD move your body 🏃‍♀️🎄

It’s not about smashing workouts; it’s about finding ways to keep moving. And hey, even if you don’t move as much as usual, remember that something is better than nothing.

✨ Tips:

  • Go for a walk in the fresh (hopefull dry and crispy 🤞) air.

  • Have a dance-off in the kitchen.

  • Join a Christmas Day parkrun/walk.

You COULD take care of YOU and listen to your body ❤️‍🩹✨

This time of year can feel overwhelming and even stressful, so give yourself the gift of pause. Think about what brings you joy—maybe write a “joy list”—and carve out time for those things. Whether it’s a cosy cuppa, a good book, or some deep breaths, YOU deserve it.

 ✨ Tips:

  • Start the day deciding on one thing you are going to do for yourself, even if it is a small thing.

  • Encourage your friends and family to do the same although it doesn't have to be the same!).

  • Don't feel guilty for taking time for yourself. It is a well-deserved gift to yourself!

You COULD have a good time 🥳💃

Enjoy the celebrations! Don’t stress about what you should or shouldn’t eat. Savour the moments. If you overindulge, don’t beat yourself up—you’ll find your balance again.

✨ Tips:

  • Think about what you could add (more veg with the turkey) as opposed to what you should avoid (chances are, those extra veg will mean you might not want as much pud!).

  • Don't be a people pleaser. It's ok to say you have enjoyed that slice of cake, but you don't want a second one!

So, which of these tips feels right for you? Or perhaps you have some to share? I’d love to hear how you’re planning to keep things fun and feel-good this season.

Or you could just try and guess what's in that drink I am holding 😉

Here’s to an amazing end of the year filled with celebrations (or quiet chill times) that’s just right for you. 🎄🥂✨
